About the Role
Smart Partners Consulting is conducting a search for a Director of Cybersecurity Operations Center on behalf of a leading organization in Los Angeles. Reporting to the CISO, this leader will oversee the SOC, Vulnerability Management, Data Loss Prevention, and Penetration Testing programs while managing a team of cybersecurity professionals in a complex, matrixed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and optimize day-to-day SOC operations including monitoring, detection, and incident response
Oversee the full incident response lifecycle and conduct post-incident reviews
Drive the vulnerability management program including assessments, prioritization, and remediation
Manage the DLP strategy across all platforms to prevent unauthorized data access or exfiltration
Coordinate internal and external penetration testing and implement remediation recommendations
Mentor and develop a high-performing cybersecurity team
Communicate security posture, risks, and incidents to the CISO and executive leadership
Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Legal, Compliance, and GRC teams
Required Qualification
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field (Master's preferred)
6–8 years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership
Proven SOC management experience with hands-on knowledge of MDR, EDR, SIEM (Sentinel/Splunk), SOAR, and vulnerability tools (Tenable, Qualys)
Deep experience with risk management, threat modeling, and regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR)
Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certification highly desirable
Compensation
$199,400 – $230,000 base salary depending on experience.
